A math placement test for kids: start with your child’s grade
Looking for a free math placement test for your child, kindergarten to 8th grade? Pick your child’s grade below for a free 10-question quick check. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes and shows the answers and worked solutions at the end.
Pick your child’s grade
Use the grade your child is in now. If the school year has just started, the grade they finished in June works too.
What a quick check can tell you
A quick check gives every child the same ten questions on the year’s main topics. It shows which questions your child missed. It cannot show why, or whether a wrong answer comes from this year or from a gap two grades back. Ten fixed questions are too few for that.
The Level Up assessment does that part. It adapts to each answer, goes back to earlier grades when it needs to and finds the earliest skill that is missing. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes on a computer or tablet and ends with a report for you. It is included in the free trial.

Which grade should I pick?
The grade your child is in now. If the score is very high or very low, try the grade above or below. That difference is useful information on its own.
How long does it take?
